Resize a signature for online forms without losing readability

A signature upload can fail even when the handwriting looks clear on your phone. The portal may check the image width and height, the maximum file size in KB, a minimum file size, the output format, or several of these rules together. This signature resizer lets you prepare one final file instead of moving between a separate cropper, image resizer and compressor.

Start with the exact values shown on the current application form. You can resize a signature to fixed pixels, compress it to a KB limit, remove unnecessary white space, clean an uneven paper background and keep the complete handwriting inside the output canvas. The final check shows the actual dimensions, file size, format and DPI before you download the image.

Resize by pixels

Enter an exact width and height such as 140 × 60 or 300 × 80 pixels. Fit without stretching keeps letters, loops and underlines in their natural proportions instead of squeezing the signature to fill the box.

Compress by KB

Set one maximum when a form says “20 KB or less.” Add a minimum only when the portal gives a range such as 10–20 KB. The tool aims for the clearest result inside the selected limit and warns when the target is unrealistic.

Prepare for a form

Choose an SSC, banking, RRB, GATE or dimension preset only when it matches the current notice. Recruitment requirements can change between application cycles, so compare the selected values with the live upload screen.

Signature size in KB and pixels are different

Pixels control the visible canvas. A 140 × 60 pixel signature always has the same width and height on the portal, but two 140 × 60 JPG files can still have different file sizes. KB measures how much data the file stores, which changes with the image format, background detail, blank margins and compression quality.

When a form specifies both values, resize the dimensions first and then compress the finished canvas. Compressing first and resizing afterwards can change the file size again, which is why the tool checks the final output rather than only the original upload.

ExampleIf the upload rule says “JPG, 140 × 60 px, 10–20 KB,” all three conditions matter. A 15 KB image with the wrong dimensions can be rejected, and a perfect 140 × 60 image can still fail when it is 28 KB. Select the matching preset or enter the three requirements manually, then create and verify one final file.

Popular signature resize presets

Open the same working tool with the required settings already selected. Always compare the result with the latest notice shown by the application portal.

Focused signature tools

Open a task-specific workflow when you only need compression, cropping or background removal. Each page uses the same private browser-based editor but starts with the relevant control ready.

Common signature upload requirements

Requirements change by organization and recruitment cycle. These presets cover frequently requested specifications, and the custom tool lets you enter the exact values shown on your form.

Use caseDimensionsFile sizeFormat / note
SSC 2026Use dimensions shown by the current notice or upload page10–20 KBJPG/JPEG, horizontal signature
IBPS / SBI banking forms140 × 60 px preferred10–20 KBJPG/JPEG, black ink on white paper
RRB 2026Use dimensions shown on the upload page30–49 KBJPG/JPEG, running-hand signature
GATE 2027250×80 to 580×180 px; ratio 2.75–3.753–300 KBJPG/JPEG, black or dark-blue ink
Other formsCustom width and heightCustom minimum / maximumJPG, PNG or WebP

The organization’s current notice and upload screen remain the final authority. Do not reuse an old preset when the live form shows different values.

How to resize a signature correctly

  1. 1. Upload: Choose a clear JPG, PNG or WebP image of the signature.
  2. 2. Select requirements: Pick a preset or enter the exact width, height, minimum KB and maximum KB from the form.
  3. 3. Trim and clean: Remove blank paper, crop safely and improve faint ink only when needed.
  4. 4. Protect the shape: Keep “Fit without stretching” enabled so letters are not squeezed or widened.
  5. 5. Verify: Create the result and check dimensions, file size, format and DPI before download.

Why signature uploads get rejected

  • Large blank margins: the signature appears too small after upload.
  • Wrong KB range: the image is clear but falls below the minimum or above the maximum.
  • Distorted handwriting: width and height were forced without preserving the signature shape.
  • Wrong format: a transparent PNG was used where the portal accepts only JPG/JPEG.
  • Unreadable ink: aggressive background removal erased thin strokes or compression made them blurry.

Private browser-based processing

Core resizing, cropping, compression and cleanup run locally in your browser. Your signature is not stored by LevoTools, and no account is required.

How to keep a compressed signature clear

The source image matters more than any compression setting. Sign with dark ink on plain paper, photograph the page in even light and keep the phone parallel to the sheet. A hard shadow, motion blur or a signature that is already cut off cannot be fully repaired by resizing.

Remove large blank margins before targeting a very small file size. This gives the encoder more of its limited data to the handwriting instead of the empty paper. Use background cleanup gradually; an aggressive threshold can erase dots, thin entry strokes and light parts of a blue-ink signature. When a small target cannot be reached safely, the tool shows a warning and offers aggressive compression rather than silently returning a file that misses the requirement.

Signature resizer questions

Can I resize a signature to 20 KB without changing its dimensions?

Yes. Keep the original width and height and set a 20 KB maximum. Exact pixels are necessary only when the form also specifies them.

Why does my signature look small after resizing?

Large white margins remain around the handwriting. Use the crop tool and leave a small safety margin around every pen stroke.

Should I use JPG or PNG for an application form?

JPG/JPEG is the most common format for recruitment and banking portals. Use PNG for transparency only when the current upload instructions explicitly allow it.

Can the tool reach every KB target?

It tries balanced compression first and can use aggressive compression for unusually small limits. Some combinations of large dimensions, complex backgrounds and tiny KB limits are not possible without making the signature unreadable; the tool warns instead of claiming success.

Does LevoTools store my signature?

Core resizing, cropping, compression and background cleanup run in your browser. The image is not stored by LevoTools during this workflow.
