What this age calculator tells you

Enter a date of birth and choose the date you want to calculate age on. The result shows completed years, months, and days, plus useful elapsed-time totals.

Keep the reference date on today for your current age. If a form, exam, job notice, school record, or other application asks for age on a specific cutoff date, enter that date instead.

The calculator works with calendar dates rather than treating every year as 365 days. This matters because months have different lengths and leap years add an extra day.

How to calculate age from date of birth

The tool needs only a birth date and a reference date. No account or personal profile is required to calculate the result.

  1. 1

    Enter the birth date

Select the correct birth day and month, then enter the four-digit birth year.

  2. 2

    Choose the reference date

Use today for current age, or enter the exact date requested by a form or notice.

  3. 3

    Calculate and review

Select Calculate age to see calendar age, total days, weeks, months, and the next birthday.

What your age result includes

After you calculate, the result panel shows these values:

Years, months, and days

Your standard chronological age using complete calendar units.

Total elapsed days

The exact number of date changes between the birth date and reference date.

Weeks and remaining days

Useful for newborn ages, schedules, and shorter periods.

Next birthday

The next birthday date and the number of days remaining from the selected reference date.

Age calculation example

Date of birth
15 June 2000
Age on date
2 September 2026
Exact age
26 years, 2 months, 18 days

The result counts 26 complete years to 15 June 2026, two complete months to 15 August 2026, and then 18 remaining days to 2 September 2026. Calculating in this order avoids treating every month as though it had the same number of days.

How the chronological age calculation works

The calculator first counts complete calendar years from the birth date. It then counts complete calendar months from the last anniversary and finally counts the remaining days. Date-only UTC arithmetic is used for the elapsed-day total so daylight-saving clock changes do not add or remove a day.

Month-end dates require special care. When the equivalent day does not exist in a shorter month, the calculation uses that month’s final valid day. This keeps results valid for dates such as 31 January and for February in leap years.

Calculate age as on an exam, job, or application cutoff date

Many Indian and international forms ask for completed age on a fixed date rather than age today.

Enter your date of birth normally, then replace today’s date with the cutoff date printed in the current official notification. The result shows your completed chronological age on that exact date.

Common age-calculation mistakes to avoid

  • Swapping the day and month when reading a numeric date.
  • Using today instead of the official “age as on” cutoff date.
  • Entering an impossible date such as 31 April or 30 February.
  • Estimating age by dividing total days by 365.
  • Ignoring the extra day in a leap year.
  • Treating running age as completed age on an official form.

Frequently asked questions

Can I calculate age as on a past or future date?

Yes. Choose any valid reference date that is the same as or later than the date of birth. This is useful when a form, exam, school assessment, or application asks for age on a specific cutoff date.

What is the difference between completed age and running age?

Completed age is the number of full years already finished. Running age informally refers to the year of life currently in progress. For official forms, use the definition and cutoff date given by the issuing authority.

How are leap-day birthdays handled?

For a 29 February birth date, this calculator uses 28 February as the calendar anniversary in a non-leap year. Legal or eligibility rules can use a different convention, so follow the current instructions from the relevant authority.

Are my dates uploaded or saved?

No. The age calculation runs in your browser. The birth date and reference date entered in this calculator are not sent to LevoTools for the calculation.
